How it all started

Much as things change, they still remain the same, especially at Maranello!

This Ferrari carries the name of one of the most beautiful competition cars ever to race, the Testarossa, or Red Head. This name was given to the car because it's cam covers were painted red instead of the more usual black. The original car was introduced during 1958, this model was introduced in 1985.

The power comes from a 4,942cc flat-12, four valve per cylinder engine mounted amidships in the car, and on top of the transmission. This impressive powerhouse produces 390bhp, to give the 1985 Testarossa a top speed of 181mph and acceleration from 0 to 62mph in 5.8 seconds.

The stunning body, like it's predecessor, is from the studios of Pininfarina, and, also like the earlier car, it's like nothing else around today. The new radiator position, in the middle of the car instead of the more usual place at the front, has been accommodated in the body styling and although the car has its critics, to my mind Pininfarina have done an excellent job. The car is also very aerodynamically stable at all speeds, continuing the outstanding abilities of all Ferrari GT models at that time.
